Does your family make fun of your chickens?

My mom calls me the crazy chicken lady. I explained I don't like being told my chickens look good to eat. She doesn't say things like that anymore, but my father does.

Everyone in my family teases me.. Like I care for my chickens 'too much'. They have all been raised on a farm. My grandparents, my father, etc. They all tease me about it!

No eggs for free. My family has to pay!

Gosh, no one has ever said they are going to eat one of my chickens. That's awful. But people do ask me all the time if I still eat chicken. Which I do. Just not mine.

Glad to hear others out there love their hens as much as I love mine. And I only have TWO!!! I can't wait for spring, I want to add two more. I know, most of you are thinking just four hens? But I live in a very small house in the city and honestly, two hens give us more than enough eggs to eat. But four hens just feels like the right number for our situation.
 
No, no one makes fun of my chickens that I know of. My parents were farmers, each from a family of 10. People can be stupid. Family are people. Family can be stupid. I've "written off" many family members and friends, there isn't any law stating I can't do that.

Sorry your family members are jerks. Tell them exactly how you feel as calmly as you can, and walk away.

Well my Mother's side of the family doesn't really like me to begin with except for one aunt out of 4 so I don't get one bit surprised when they make fun of my chickens, pigs, ducks, clothes, job, car, haircut, skin color, etc. You name it, they'll trash it. My Father's side of the family is kind of spread out they don't really care. They mostly keep their negativity to themselves. But my parents and BF have really come around to it and that's all that matters to me

I have more chickens than I really want to count. All of them have names and some even have outfits (saddles) and the question is "Does your family make fun of your chickens?"

That would be one seriously big YES

Do I care? NO

I used to care, but then I realized it doesn't really matter what they think. It doesn't make my chickens any better or worse, it doesn't make me like my chickens any more or less. I am the only one I can make happy, if they don't like it, too bad so sad, not my problem.

Enjoy your chickens, enjoy your yummy fresh eggs. Watch the silly antics and SMILE
