The only thing harder than being a Marine is being a Marines wife. Least that what I have been told on many occasions

I was not a marine's wife but a woman marine. I served 6 years and eventhough that part of my life is over I never forget how proud I was to serve my country. To all soldiers of all armed forces "Thank you for letting us to continue to live in freedom, you guys and gals are awesome! Keep up the good work. This lady vet thinks you are great."

These young people that are following our footsteps are really something special. Things are different for them then they were for us, much less gray area then in my day and they still do the job.

One thing I learned while DH was still in the Corps is you don't just have a spouse that is in the military, you become part of the military as well.
Anytime there is a separation for some kind of deployment, it is equally as hard on the families left behind.
DH wasn't in a "war zone" after we we married but we had numerous separations due to cold weather or desert training, going out in the field, or some kind of school.
Imagine me at 19, a newlywed, pregnant, miles from my family, and DH is gone for 2 or 3 weeks to even a month at the time............I remember thinking, "And I got married for this?" And then telling myselft, "Boy, you must really love this man".
But it is a way of life that you get used to.
I know all of our soldiers over there really need our support, but I have so many times thought about all of those families left behind.
If you really want to see a huge support group, you should be on a Military Base when the guys leave for a deployment.

I have two sons one is a Marine the other just relisted into the Army from the Marines- My brother did his first ten in the Marines and is now Air Force- my cousin is also in the Army.
We call it the Family Biz. this was an awesome post -

My son was to Iraq and will likely go back for the Army my other Marine will likely go - my brother flies in and out of Iraq like going to the neighbors house for coffee .. It is nice to know people think of them and their jobs ...
