Dog adopted Chicks

Put my chick outside in a pen today for the first time. Was a bit worried about our 6 dogs. But one of our young females took it upon herself to adopt the chicks. She growled at any other dog that came near the pen and acted as their protector. Makes me feel safer about when they eventually move outside for good.

How cute! Just be careful about their feces a good friend of mine just lost her dog the vet said it was from the dogs eating the fecal matter of the chickens.

Thanks for the heads up. The chicks stay in the pen and the dog stays on guard outside so hopefully it won't be a problem.
