I'm so glad your girl is doing better. I found your thread while looking up information on leg injuries. Yep had one here a few days ago. I think (fairly certain) one of my dogs played with him a little too roughly. No biting so no bleeding or wounds just a bum leg. He is a white silkie and he is a doll. He and his "wife" lol, a female white silkie, stick to each other like glue and have since they were teenie so I brought him in and her also. It has been horribly cold here lately (in Louisiana too not fair) so I didn't want him going into shock from the cold. It even snowed one day pretty good. He sounds just like the others with the leg thing though. At first he kept it sticking straight out to the side. Then he started pulling it up under. Like yours, he uses his wing as best he can to sort of flip flop around. A good thing is he never stopped eating or drinking....especially eating (he is a piglet), so that has not been a concern. He will even flop from one side to another to get at his food. I have put them both into one of those really large plastic storage containers in my living room *ugh*. Until today neither has even tried getting out. But of course today the female got bored I guess and at first just perched up on the edge...then got brave and jumped down onto the rug. That lasted all of 10 seconds I scooped her back up and put her back in, which of course then she jumped back up on the edge again...but stayed there that time. Luckily they are both almost overly friendly so that also makes it easier for us. I keep wondering if his leg is broken....do not see any swelling or obvious breaks....dislocated, looks to be in the right place....or just sore. My husband said if he isn't walking in the next day or so we are hauling him to the vets. I am mainly concerned about him being in much pain. I am a bit of a softy when it comes to my grandsons and my animals, hate to see them in pain. After reading all the suggestions I am going to attempt a bath. He is pretty disgusting too ...gross! I did stick parts of him under warm running water to try and dislodge some of the larger offending blobs of goo, but a bath would do him wonders in the sniffer department.
Hope your chicken continues to grow stronger and her leg heals well. Guess I am off to bath my ball of chicken pooh.
