Dog attack and aftermath, tail down and under wing blood

Hi! I'm a new registered users and wish to thank all of you so much! I have been reading and learning for months. We are new brood owners (6 bards and 6 rhode islands, now 4 rhode islands) and have and great success until four days ago. While we were out at a dance recital our chickens were ravaged by a pack of wild chihuahuas. I know it sounds funny but it's not. Two were killed, two severely injured and the rest just plain scared to death.

My needs currently: I have one chicken with an injury to her side which I am keeping clean and seems to be healing. However, she got poo butt big time. I'm setting about cleaning it while trying not to injure her more. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Other need: One of my reds is displaying signs of illness now. She was fine a few days ago after the attack, but now had "dropped" her tail feathers and waddles like a duck. when I try to get a look at her, she runs - tail up- and hides. I'm wondering if she's eggbound or just plain not feeling well. She wazs not interested in eating today when I put out their favorite treats - oats mixed with yogurt.

Any words of advice from you wise people will be gratefully appreciated.

Give them some scrambled up eggs or some meat (tuna or ground beef cooked up) to help their bodies heal up a little.

The injuries will take a while to heal, keep those with wounds separated so the others don't peck at them.

be sure to check the one that hides, if she is injured she may need treatment.

I second the post about extra protein....

also giving Electrolytes in water helps...

The one that hides may be injured or the stress of the attack may have made her egg bound if old enough to lay. Try to get her indoors and keep her warm after you check for injuries. I agree feed scrambled egg yolks, vitamins and and electrolytes. Wishing they heal quickly and well!

Thank you all for your advice and guidance. I've checked the red and she's going down. I separated ehr and fed her a bunch of meal worms which she gladly ate up. She took water with antibiotics and electrolytes but still seems like she's given up. I will take you advice of bringing her in and keeping her warm as it is freezing temps here.

The other seems to have perked up a bit which is glad to see.

Damn dog owners who refuse to take pet ownership responsibly!
