So, after 2 years of having chickens, we've gotten our first emergency. One of our girls was attacked by the neighbor's dog Wednesday eve. She's got several puncture wounds on her back between her shoulders, chest and rump above her tail feathers (what few are left.) I cleaned her up as best as I could and sprayed the wounds with vetericyn and put her in isolation. She seemed sore but OK yesterday, ate/drank and pooped. Today she isn't eating and seems really lethargic. Her crop feels swollen, bloated and squishy and she spit up a little clear liquid this morning. And now she is moving her neck in a way that looks like she is trying to regurgitate. I read about sour and impacted crop and helping her regurgitate, but I'm worried that she may have been injured more than we thought. Any ideas abut what we can do? I feel so sad for her.

I would just make sure that she is drinking fluids with some electrolytes and vitamins in them. Gatorade or Pedialyte can substitute. Massage her crop several times a day. I would not try to get her to vomit, since it can be dangerous because of choking. She may just have a sluggish crop due to her injuries. When her crop feels smaller, feed her liquids, such as raw egg and a little plain yogurt, but no whole grains, then proceed slowly.
