DOG ATTACK!! Help Please - pictures

You need to irrigate the hole as much as possible letting the fluid drain downward. If you try to stich it closed yourself your hen will be in a lot of pain. A vet will apply some anesthetic to the wound area.If you deside to do it anyway stich it so it can drain to prevent infection Plain sterile water or saline will work fine.

Thank you everyone for all your great advice! Daphne seems to be feeling much better, she started drinking and eating again finally. We're gonna tough it out till tomorrow when the vet opens at 9am! Thanks for everything!

I have had to doctor alot of animals in the past. I would not recommend ointment as it will attract dirt and debris and is much harder to keep the wound clean.
Flush the wound with saline (salt water). Keep the area dry and clean and it will eventually heal on it's own. Flush regularly though so the area does not get infected. You can use a syringe which I find works best. Dont be afraid to get into the wound and under the skin a bit.
Do not use peroxide! This will damage the skin more and cause slower healing.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Daphne has pretty much fully recovered.

She's healthy and happy.

Thank you everyone for your great advice and support in my newbie panicky state.
