So my dog got into the backyard and got a hold of one of my ducks. As soon as she had Puddles (our duck) in her mouth, I grabbed our dog and she dropped the duck. Other than some missing feathers, Puddles appears to be ok. I do not see any visible blood and he’s acting pretty normal other than a little skiddish. My dog didn’t jerk our duck around or anything like that. As soon as she got into the backyard I sprang into action to get control of the situation. Do you think I should take him to the vet to just get checked out? Or just assume he’s ok. Super nervous and paranoid over the situation but I do know it could have been a lot worse.

That happened to me once with a neighbor dog, a Newfoundland. My neighbor got the duck free very quickly, and the duck was shaken, but fine. I’d keep an eye on your duck, if he shows any signs of illness or pain, I’d say to see a vet. Good luck!

i had a duck thet was shredded till you could see the tendons and bones, sewed him up with a a practice suturing kit i had and used the gel anti scare/infection spray and he healed and just had limp till he died of an unrelated issue later. he even grew his feathers back.
no vet was needed even for that.

In other words dont worry unless a limb is almost gone.

Thanks so much!
