Dog attack (Not terribly) AGAIN?!?!

Hi I had a fox or feral cat attack my flock of 5 a year ago. One of my girls was in a bad way. Breathing but floppy. She couldn’t hold her head up for over 2 weeks. My husband suggested I might need to put her out of her misery but I persevered. I thought I’ll give you one more week. I had to hand feed her. After the third week her neck became stronger. She too became stronger and made a full recovery. She is a little more of a chicken 😂 to what she was before. Took another two weeks to get the other girls to accept her back. With the help of a water sprayer for the bossy girl who kept attacking her.
I read and tried a lot of different mashed up food. Weet box, wet bread, cooked egg was her favourite along with some vitamin D. So my point is it may take some time but 🤞🏻Your girl makes a full recovery.

It's been about three days since I put her outside, and she is doing WAY better than I expected. She actually got more energy and has been keeping her tail feathers straight up. The only thing I think I need to worry about is this flap of skin that was peeled up in the attack, and it was covering a wound and still attached so I left it on. It's been flopping around her wound area and today I caught her and looked at it and there was an open wound underneath as well as a feather stem rooted into a scab :sickit sure looked painful so I left it alone. Anything I should do? I'm a little squeamish but I'll do what I can

How do I keep flies off her?

A photo of what the wounds look like now may be helpful.

From your description it sounds like the flap of skin will probably just dry up and fall off on its own, so I'd leave it. Do put a little triple antibiotic ointment on the wound to keep it moist.
Yeah, feathers will probably start to come through (regrow) where the scabs are, this can look a bit painful, just keep watch on it.

Deter flies by keeping your run and housing tidy.

She's got little pin feathers! :love:clap
Her wounds look like their healing fine. She has just been dust bathing a lot and so it looks dirty and you can barley see anything. She's rarely picked on and the worst I've seen happen to her (Lately) is one of the head hens raising her neck feathers. She's her usual self, running over to you, you pet her, she runs off. But I don't think I've seen any eggs from her lately.

This is kind of off topic, but I've been getting multicolor eggs that have blotches on them lately. When I get another one, I'll post a picture. Who does this?
Sounds like she's doing good.
Dust bathing is good too.

I can try to help with the egg i.d. looking forward to the photo:)

Sorry for the bad photos- she hates cameras for some reason

the eggs can get blotchy or off colored at times if the hens are stressed. you said it was very hot out, that'll do it. Sometimes an egg's color is part bloom, and if something disturbs the bio system that bloom can change a bit. I have one that lays pink eggs but if something upsets her really bad, they can be almost white for a day or so.

the little calcium lumps on the shells, Id say that is normal from time to time too. Unless its persistant or they start acting ill Id not worry too much about it. Check their diet, make sure they are getting enough calcium, and absolutely enough water. If you can, try to keep it cool, yes they CAN get picky if their water gets hot.

She's growing in feathers! Nice. Looks like she's healing fine.

I couldn't tell you who laid the egg. Do you have Easter Eggers or a breed that lays light colored eggs?

Color/Pigmentation (if any) is applied in the Shell Gland. Once the egg leaves the shell gland it moves to the Vagina and the bloom/cuticle is applied right before it's laid.

The egg looks quite normal and fine to me.
