Dog attack. When to cull? (Graphic pics)

I was gone from 10 am til 7:30 pm today. I save Kinnick (DD calls him Hawkeye; we already have a Herkey) for last. He was out of his small box and hiding in the back corner of the bathroom. I made him a big boy house.

There is more poop on the floor, but he hadn't touched his water and his crop is ROCK SOLID. I tried to massage it some, but it is extremely full and firm. It was the same last night.

I was going to tube him some water, but now I'm not sure? Should I try a little olive oil to get his crop moving first?

The bathroom smells very "chickeny" right now. His tail looked a little wet, but with thee blukote it's just hard to tell what's going on.

I would stick with water. I've heard of problems with oil. @casportpony has something in one of her threads warning about giving oil, if I remember correctly.

Sorry in advance that I can't to a spoilers tag on my phone. This is not really an emergency because I've treated injuries like this before. Just wondering if this poor baby has any chance of recovery.

My dog who I thought was done killing chickens went on a murder spree. He killed three and piled their bodies in a neat stack, and wounded this guy.

He's pretty plucked, and right above the tail is just bare meat. He's in shock, too. Just totally limp. All I have tonight is saline wound spray and blu kote. I washed him out good but haven't applied anything because someone said the blukote burns wounds like this.

Any (gentle) advice is appreciated.

I would put 3 percent hydrogen peroxide on it clean it up put some triple antibiotic cream on it and rap him up with vet rap

I would avoid hydrogen peroxide personally, I haven't found it to be a good anti bacterial and it dries everything out, with an open wound you want to keep it moist. I would use a watered down iodine solution (about tea colored is what I shoot for, no exact science) or veterycin 3x daily, but make sure you irrigate with a saline wash first to get any skin bits and dirt out.

Hope your girl is feeling better soon.

I did not think of using iodine

I bathed him with dawn dish soap and warm running water. Then I trimmed his feathers away. Most of the area is just plucked, not damaged. The tail is missing skin, but no deep gashes or punctures. He and I are both a lovely shade of indigo from the blukote.

I've always found blukote to dry the area, maybe thats just me though, it also makes a great carpet dye ... :)

I hope he's feeling better soon. I'd switch from dawn to baby shampoo so it doesn't strip the oils from the feathers, he will probably have a hard time keeping oiled while he's healing anyways. Just a thought.
