Two dogs (someone owned these, they had collars, I'm sure they don't have rabies, just are ******* dogs) attacked my flock yesterday. I think the only one they got to was chiquita, who already could not walk -due to her splayed leg/crooked toe -that I tried to fix numerous times but she would always rip off splints, rope or sandals...
Anyway. I thought I got lucky because she didn't seem injured, however, today I noticed A somewhat deep about 2 in by 2 in wound on her back, upon further inspection poor girl had closed up wounds all over her from this **** dog.
It is very hard to do anything with her, since she can't stand, and whenever you try something she flaps like crazy and waddles away. I managed to put peroxide on her, bactine and a & d.
I don't know If I should honestly keep her alive though.. I've been thinking of putting her down before this because she can't walk, seems to have gotten worse and she knocks all the feeders and waterers over.
opions?
If I kill her, what is the most humane way to do it. And the meat should be safe to eat, because I don't want to waste her...?

I couldn't eat her if she had been my pet, & it wouldn't be wasting her b/c ur not wasting your dog when you bury your dog. The most humane way...besides chopping her head off I really don't know, I know it sounds brutal but its quick & they don't even know what hit em....I couldnt get the guts to do it though, I'd make my dad do it....

thanks for your honesty.
dog meat is gamey from what I've heard and not very edible. If I had a cow to be put down I would probably humanely kill it and eat the meat.

yea, cows are differnet though...I love horses & all animals, heck I've even had a pet baby fawn before....see...
Her name was Ginger. I think a snake got her once we put her outside. But I've been hunting deer since I was like 5 & so its kinda weird since I hunt them yet I had one as a pet, we buried her though in our backyard.

Well I would PTS and bury, I say I would but thats not strickly true as I couldn't do it, it would be a vet or a dad job! I couldn't eat her but then I don't eat meat anyway, although I think a lot of people that eat meat wouldn't eat a pet but that doesn't make it wrong, you must do what you are comfortable with, as long as your little hen is not suffering anymore thats the main thing
