Hello. My name is Nikolas. i have a small flock of 15 chickens. only one of which is a rooster. well, my grandmothers dog, Jesse attacked one earlier and i found her laying in the grass surrounded by her feathers. so, i sprayed some saline solution into the would and she 'Seems' to be OK. but wont eat and keeps falling asleep. i mean, that last part might be because its 10:00 pm but still. i worry. will she be OK? i really don't want her to die and i don't know if any organs could be punctured. i didnt feel any crushed bones and she can walk but she doesnt seem to want to At all. usually she just runs from me, nonstop.

She has been in a bad "wreck" kinda---she will be real sore and hurting so needs to be left alone---not a lot of handling for a few days. I would spray blu-kote on her wounds to help and to keep the flies off her---if you do not have none----you will probably need to keep her where blow flies can not get to her for a few days. We none do not know if she is hurt internally. Just let her rest----don't try to feed her but have it where she can get food and water if she wants. Good Luck

Hi Nikolas!
Welcome to BYC.

You did good by cleaning it up.
You may want to apply some Neosporin to the wound too.
Hopefully she will recover just find for you...she is probably still in shock.
Let her rest and tomorrow morning try to make sure she drinks and eats.
Adding some electrolytes and vitamins may help her.

Keeping her indoors and away from flies until it scabs over might be a good idea too.
And keeping her away from others that may peck at the wound and make it worse.
