My small flock has recently been attacked twice by next doors dog. It killed two and badly injured another.
I usually free range them all day long in my 2 acre garden but because of this threat, I am forced to keep them in their run until the fence is repaired and the dog is contained. (A date for which is still outstanding)
What were the most delicious, rich tasting eggs have become pale and completely tasteless, it's really depressing.
What can I do to improve the eggs until my girls are able to roam free again?
I feed them on a mix of grains, corn and layers pellets.

I feed my hens fermented feeds that includes alfalfa pellets. When you ferment the feed with the alfalfa pellets, the pellets turn to mush. The alfalfa pellets help replace the greens they are not able to get. Whole kernel corn, a couple of hands full a day will also help color up and flavor up the eggs.

I can't get my hens to eat alfalfa pellets.
