I need some help. The neighbors dog attacked one of my young pullets. I want to try and save her if at all possible but I’m not sure about wound care. I cleaned and washed out her back with warm water to get debris out, then flushed with iodine solution. I’m not sure what to put on it now or if I should try to warp it? This is my first chicken open wound injury.

Keep her warm and calm (I have put injured chickens in the bathtub in my house more than once.) Apply antibiotic ointment or ivermectin spray. And I found out you can feed chickens a baby aspirin for pain relief. I tried it last time one of my chickens had an injury. I don't know if it made the hen feel better, but it made me feel better.

Treat for shock with offering sugar water or electrolytes. Keep in a calm quiet spot. Can you post any pictures of the wound? Trim any feathers from the wound.I would flush the wound twice a day with warm saline or a wound spray such as Vetericyn or chlorhexidene. Saline can be made at home by adding and dissolving 2 tsp of salt to a quart/liter of water. Bring to a boil, lower to an simmer, and cover for 15 minutes. Store in a clean jar.
