Dog Breeds: Old vs New, Working vs Show- with many pictures

I think the show quality Border Collie you pictured is actually an Australian Shepherd.

And don't get me started on what "show breeders" have done to Aussies......

Edited to correct myself, I do think I see a tail on your pictured Border Collie, my mistake, but it sure does look like an Australian Shepherd!

Now that you mentioned it, I think you're right. That's why it looks so strange! I'll try and find an actual show border collie...

Actually I think it really is a border collie. Look at these, all listed as show border collies. They all look pretty similar.

I have to say they don't look like any border collies I've ever seen.

I already posted a retraction.... I think I see a tail covering up one hind foot......

But! It still looks an awful lot like an Aussie. Look at the ears! They are not even standing !!!

I know you said not to get you started but I don't know much about Australian Shepherds... mind elaborating?

They increased their size, bred out their herding and protection insincts, most of them have way too much white in their coat colors, merles have been bred to merles which increases defects in the breed, dogs with hearing, eye and structural defects have been purposely bred to produce dogs for the show ring.

I used to breed Aussies.......
