Dog/cat shampoo for mites/lice

Hi, I read in a chicken book I have that a dog/cat flea shampoo can be used for mites/lice on chickens. Has anyone used this? I have a new silkie chicken that I want to bathe to make sure it doesn't have either of these bugs, Any thought's on this? Just want to be sure it wont harm her.

I don't know about adult dog and cat shampoo, but I have used puppy and kitten shampoo for fleas/mites which has been fine. Though most of the time I use ferret shampoo for my chickens.
