Dog crate for Chicks and MOM?

What does your dog crate look like? How big is it? and how any chicks.
I manage to keep my bantam momma hen and her three little ones in a guinea pig cage for about two weeks. For the first few weeks, the little ones stay very close to momma.
Then moved them to my aquarium, which is bigger, but on the back porch where it is colder. She was there for about another week or so. Then it warmed up enough for me to let her out and free range with the rest of the gang. I put her back in the aquarium at night though, to keep her and the chicks safe from vermin and warmer.
Hope this helps some.

It is a large size dog crate. I think that I could put about 11 chicks in it. They are 3 days old. Would I be able to keep them in it for 2 weeks? Apnother option that I have is to close an area of the coop off with the baby gate. That might be better?

Baby gates work wonders! Easy to use and easy to adjust!

Go ahead and try the dog crate. You can always go to option 2 if it doesn't work out. I've use cardboard boxes, rubbermaid type bins and all sorts of other makeshift containment areas. Some fancier than others. Try it out, if it doesn't work, you'll have to think of something else. If it works, great.
Just keep an eye on them, to see how they are doing. As if it is possible not to watch their anticks.

It is best to keep them close to the rest of the flock anyway. Everyone will be more used to each other.
