Dog food

No reason to be depressed Journey11. If your dogs do well on Purina then that is the right dog food for you.

There is no one right way to feed a dog. Whatever works for you and gives good results is the right way.

Yeah that is true! As long as your dog is happy and healthy that is all that matters. Most people wish they could give their dog cheap food, but due to the dog's health problems they have to feed expensive. I'm sure your dogs are happy getting whatever food they can and have a loving home rather than have expensive food and someone who doesn't love them. Dogs just love their family not the food...if that makes sense, i've been sleep deprived so it does to me

I have to be careful about what my Leo eats. He gets sick from chicken, and I have to read all ingredient labels. He also can't have anything with BHA or BHT (very nasty stuff). BHT & BHA are used as preservatives. They are not food! They are banned from use in human food, but for some reason they still get into dog and cat food. Leo will have seizures if he eats anything with those chemicals in it. As for Ol' Roy, I wouldn't even feed that to my neighbors' chicken killing mongrels, and I hate them.

You can still se his ribs, but he looks better every day. He also is starting to have more energy, for awhile he wouldnt play. He just slept all day.

Yesterday he ate a bunch of our older dogs dog food, and he acted much tireder (is that a word?

) again.

He is eating chicken (my roosters) pheasent, and venison. So far its cost me nothing.

If it gets to expensive, I will try to switch one of the recommended brands after he is older and not growing so fast. Black Gold I have heard a lot of good things about.

GSDs can also suffer from a genetic lack of a pancreatic enzyme which can display symptoms like your puppy has, so you might want to get him checked out by the vet and/or research GSD health issues that might cause these symptoms.

Does your vet know this is a continuing problem with your puppy?

I will look into this, thanks! I know he has been to the vet for shots and worming, but I am sure thats all they did.

I totally agree. We are feeding what we can afford and still be able to afford his flea and heartworm prevention. Our pup is doing great on it.
Last night I made up a few batches of kibble gravy to go over his dry food. It's healthier for our pup than the canned stuff and saves us money in the long run.
