One of our dogs got in the run and attacked one of our chickens. Her back is all torn apart. It's been about a 1 week or 2 and it's now turning black. She can't seen to flap her wings or hop out of the covered run into the yard.
I put some vetericyn plus on thr wound when it happened.
Can I put her in the tub to wash thr wound and bandage her back up. What should the process be.
She does eat and drink when I left her out of the inside run to where the food and water is.

Get some Hibiclens from the pharmacy in the wound care section. Vetricyn doesn't kill germs. Hibiclens will kill all bacteria, fungus, yeast, and virus for a full 24 hours after a 10 minute application. You can dilute the Hibiclens 50-50 and gently rub it over the wound with a gauze 4x4. If you have Silvadene Cream, it's the best for wounds and will heal them much faster than OTC antibiotic cream. I would remove her from others and keep her area especially clean.

Is there a bad odor?
If there is, then I would wipe it out with Hibiclens and reapply your ointment or Vetericyn.

She's been outside and gotten dirt in it. If it's all scabbed over, no bad odor and she's eating/drinking/active, then you may want to just spray it with the Vetericyn daily and monitor it closely.

There's no odar at all.. I don't see it dirty inside either just black maybe scabbed not sure never had this happen.
Would there be a reason why she won't hop up over a brick to go outside or hop over the brick to go back inside..
I'm sorry we don't have a vet here at deals with farm animals.

It would be good to pick her up and take a very close look at the wound.
Triple antibiotic ointment may help soften the scab and keep the wound a bit more moist, but the wound needs tending to daily.

Just a guess why she won't/can't hop over a brick - she's still sore from the injury, there's been some nerve damage(?) No way to know at this point. It takes time for birds to heal just like us. You mention it's only been 1-2 wks - it's going to take longer than that to heal up.
