Dog got in the chicken coop

The sad thing about posting on a forum like this is the advice that comes from people so far removed from your situation ! Cudos to you and your decision to protect anyone or anything that could come in contact with this dog in the future by putting it down. You would never forgive yourself if by some freak accident it attacked a person. The decision is yours - not ours.

there is no reason to say that a dog who is a danger to livestock would attack a person. They are very different things.

If you can't contain her, then at least be there for her at the end.

There is nothing in the postings of this thread that indicates anyone has solid experience with dogs and poultry / livestock. Experience as a trainer does not always cut it as local dog trainers here often have similar difficulties when training dogs with poultry. I have seem numerous times where parties with dog simply did not understand dog and botched efforts to get dog into shape. I all instances I have seen where dog was deemed beyond redemption, it was the owner that was the problem where dog was kept like a wicked step child. Finding another owner for dog would be better.

9 year old dog with severe animal aggression, deemed unadoptable by a local no-kill, professional behaviorist suggests expensive medication to calm dog down, dog has been on meds before without success. Yes I will find her a new home, because that's possible. Or I could lie about her problems, that's always an option. Maybe send her to the local no-kill where she will slowly go kennel crazy until she snaps and needs to be put down, because that is so humane.

I have had her evaluated by a PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIORIST, you know someone who goes to college for this type of stuff. She has a MASTERS DEGREE from a real life University, not one of those fake animal behavior "colleges" and her focus is rescue dogs. Her last resort when dealing with dogs is meds and that's what she suggested. My dog has been on the max dose, though, before and it stopped working after two days. I understand how to train a dog from killing or going after poultry. I have a stray that turned up on my doorstep I'm working with right now, she is making progress and she used to be just as bad as my other dog. That's the difference, my other dog never made any progress. She learned all the obedience tricks, but I have never been able to get her to focus. She will sit and wait for her food until I tell her to take it, but if she sees another animal there is no controlling her. Dog, cat, chicken, goat, she doesn't care and she will kill it if given the chance.
