Dog grooming

So I have this interview as a dog bather in the big city.Im hoping to land this job cause I really need it and I want to be a dog groomer one day. So far most of my experience comes from my own big fuzzy dogs and I have been working in a petstore for several years and I want a career change.Please wish me lucky so that I get this job!!Also any of yall on her dog groomers or bathers?What have yall experience been like in a salon?

There are schools that train dog groomers and the loans are provided by the schools. My wife went through the school here in Portland Or. about 25 years ago. She opened up her own business for about 5 years.

As for experience it is hard work the bathing and stuff which is what you will most likely be doing. You will find out what breed of dogs are good and what are not so good. Shitsus are the worst.

The money dogs are the labs and that type the money losers are the poodles and the ones that take to much time to trim. You cannot charge enough.

You cannot be afraid of a dog and do not hesitate to use a muzzle it takes too long to heal from a bite.

Cats are easy money also.

My wife got pregnant is why she quit.

Thanks for the info though I wish there was a school here but San Antonio doesnt have any at all. The closets one is all the way in Houston. So I figured the best experiene is hands on. I know a few things and I know alot of the popluar breeds like the one that dont shed (yorkies,maltese,poodles,**** zhu).

i have a cockapoo that they charge $34-$43 to do, they say she is wonderful to work with, and I love my baby.

Cats are NOT easy money! LOL...I have a shop in Portland. We charge $65-75 to groom a cat and it's not enough!

I have to agree. Tho ive never groomed a cat, Ive tried to give my cat a bath. I wish i wouldve gotten paid, cause, NOTHING is as hard as trying to give a cat whoHATES water a bath (AT LEAST DOGS CLAWS ARENT SHARP!!!)
