I dont know why this whole chicken coop building idea is so stressful lol, my chicks are about 3 weeks old and i need to start thinking about the build. This is our first time rasising chickens so the parts that need to go on or in a coop is new to me. I do plan to use a dog run for the chicken run, seems the best way to go for my yard. I have recently been told a wooden dog house could be used as a fantastic base for my chicken coop, and that makes sense, ill just have to add to it! Has anyone done this? I would love advise and maybe even pictures of yours!! We have 4 chickens currently and plan to keep it that way for now, these are my daughters pride and joy!

I use a dog house for my ducks and it works perfectly

You could modify a dog house by adding a roost and a few windows for ventilation, but keep in mind that chickens should have at least 4 sq ft floor space per chicken inside the coop, so that's the starting point you'll want to use.
