Has anyone ever used one for a chicken run??? i think it would be great for them if i put wire on top.

I use them with no issues. Just make sure you run chicken wire along the bottom as little ones can squeeze out the holes.

That's what I use for their outside enclosure. Mine is attached to the building and covered with wire to keep out predators.

yes!! they are perfect! i also have 3, i put chicken wire across the tops, and put old roof tin on two different corners, for shade, and i have an old metal shed on the out side of the kennel, i used a panel that has a door, for access to the metal shed, and that is fixed up as their coop, works great, oh, i also have a panel that has a door at the other end so i can get in to clean & feed, also the pens are real easy to get, i got one for free, off of freecycle.com and almost every time i look in the classifieds, theres one for sale cheap.................... cant beat it

Also, if you stick with only four panels, you can use them as a chicken tractor. Lay two 2"X4" flat on the ground, then place the dog kennel over it. The 2"X4" act as skids and allow you to easily slide the whole thing over. With 4, 2x4s, you can move it all over the yard, by using two underneath it, then when you get to the end of those two, put the next set down, slide the cage over and then pick up the first two!

That way you flock has the benefits of chainlink, but the moveability and fresh ground of a chicken tractor.
