Dog or fence for predators

I think some us are confusing pet dogs with working dogs.

I have cousins that raise sheep in eastern Colorado. They have working dogs, Great Pyrenees, that sleep with the sheep and guard the sheep. These animals are not pets they serve a purpose.

Exactly, and I think that's what people are thinking when they say they want to get a dog "to guard the chickens." I think folks that have never had a dog, aren't going to properly train a working dog to do the job they want it to do.
