so I have been wanting chickens FOREVER, I moved to the northwoods about 10 years ago, and everyone that has chickens keeps them bound in a fenced area that seems small and no fresh grass. My reason for raising chickens is so that I may have the best quality of meat and eggs possible, and keeping those guys cooped up with no fresh plants or grubs for them to eat seems pointless. so here is my test. I have 3 Dobermans, and one guy tank seriously needs a job on the land. he raised his pups so well and has such good temperament, that I went and ordered 3 day old chicks just for him. I am hoping that he will take them on as his own and keep a close eye on his babies so that they are allowed to free range- we have more predators than you can imagine in this area!

I would bet so, we have a lot, and I mean a lot of predators around here also! It is difficult keeping them all safe from things that are looking for a tasty chicken dinner
