Dog to protect your flock?

We have 3 dogs outside during the day. This is our youngest one Zip my daughter snaped a picture of the other day. He likes to perch on that tree stump and keep lookout down the hill. A direction fox and coyote like to sneek in and grab a chicken.
Zip is almost two, his mother was Australen Shepherd and his father was pit bull. He is a natural at guardian duties and very vigilant.

I noticed you are from the little finger in Michigan. I am originally from Traverse City but have lived in Florida most of my life. Nice dog and a nice log-splitter and it looks like you have a lot of trees.
