Dog vs. Wild animal

My question is this:

Normally, dogs will "play" with a chicken, ie - shake it to death like a ragdoll and leave it dead, maybe ripped apart; but, do wild animals do the same or will they drag it off to eat, bury, or what?

I am 99% certain all 5 of my chicken deaths (4 happened the same day) were because of dogs because of all the feathers torn and flung around the yard, and the bird mainly intact with it's neck torn. I would assume that if a fox, coyote, raccoon, or hawk had attacked, there would be evidence of eating, not just torture.

Do you agree??

ps - I hate irresponsible pet owners.

Yes and no,sorry
Dogs will go on a klling spree, they love the chase and kill and if there are more running around they will leave there kill to kill another.
My dogs(maliniois)will kill then eat,my labs will bring it back to me.
But think you answered your question 99% of the time if killed by a wild animal it will be eaten.

I hear you there. I had more than half my flock killed by a loose dog Jan.14th. I'm still waiting for me restitution.

If it were a wild animal, I would think that they would at least be partially eaten. Wild animals don't normally kill for fun, they kill to eat and survive...

I do agree with Roy that it was most likely a domesticated animal that got your chicked, just because they didn't have any evidence of being eaten. With that said; Coons have been known to kill just for pleasure. Nasty little buggers....

Agreed, you can't put anything past a coon. Most of the time a coon will rip the head off, but, not always...
