I have two goldens, one of them almost killed a neighbor's chicken in the yard two years before I got my chickens. The dogs chase everything outdoors including wild turkeys. I taught them not to chase my chickens by raising the peeps in the house. The dogs were not allowed in the indoor peep room until I told them it was OK to come in. Then at first they had to lie down if they wanted to watch. They were very excited at first, but eventually stopped staring at them like they wanted to eat them. Then I knew it was safe to let the them all together. I never let the dogs lick or shove the peeps with their nose. The peeps became part of their pack. When I moved the peeps outside they were afraid of the big world at first...and followed the dogs around for protection!
