That is amazing. My dogs are fine with the baby ducks but mine went after our adult drake teeth out =/

When I first had them outside together I had my girl on a long 20' cord/line so I would be able to catch her and correct her if she tried anything "cheeky". I did that for about 4 days before I felt she understood the rules and would obey verbal commands.

We have a Bald Eagle that perches in a nearby fir tree with a complete view of our yard, I am looking forward to when I can leave Eva in the yard with the chickens, I feel like I am pushing my luck right now...

I have an English Springer Spaniel.
He loves to smell my birds, one peck and he backs off immediately.
No issues in 5 years.
Good dog, but i still don't trust him unsupervised.

I think that is the thing, let them do their thing, train them, just can't ever completely trust them. My GSD loves to lay by the brooders and chat with ours. So funny.

Love seeing dogs and chickens together!
I have a Cane Corso cross that will come in the chicken yard with me and hang out. She loved the little chicks from day one. I'm still training my other 2 dogs not to charge the fence when the chickens are out in their yard!

Awesome thread! My dogs love the chickens, and my Aussie is great with our new ducks (my older girl is still working on her duck manners)
The Aussie called foster keeps seeking out my broody hen in the garden and since she won't move, he licks her face until she's all wet if I don't stop him.
And of coarse their favourite snack is chicken poop.
Now the chickens and cats is a different story, my hens have full on attacked my cats, it's a little funny... No kitties injured.
Anyone else have crazy cat chasing hens?

I have a seven year old, 180lb Newfoundland named Willie (Nelson) who LOVES babies...no matter what the species and never strays far from them.


This is Willie and Houdini meeting for the first time.



Our little Maran pullet we've yet to name cozying up to Willie.



She even hitched a ride around the living room one morning after escaping the crate with Houdini.
