So you'll notice this is in the poultry management section. Its meant to be.
I wanted to ask what you thought about this, for those of you with dogs....
Didn't it used to be that to train your dog to chase of small predators, that way back in the day they'd make a chew toy out of whatever the local predators were using a pelt? Like for example, they'd sew up a leather chew toy with a fox pelt, and then you'd rough house play with it with the dogs.
Then when the real thing comes along to EAT your FLOCK, the dogs already know what to do? Instinct kicks in.
I read about this but haven't tried it myself. (And I guess those with dogs that are a bit too lazy and tame might have trouble getting it to work.)
Have any of you done this actually and how did it go?
I'm pretty sure this is a cheap deterrant, you'd only need to use some of your own handicrafting skills and a small fee to buy a fox pelt or something online and get it shipped. The alternative is the cost for an electric fence; which isn't as cheap as this.
