Dogs and other pests

So I'm looking to expand my chicken pin but I have a cranky old dog that doesn't like my chickens or ducks. She tried to dig under the current pin. We had to put concrete blocks around it. What is everyone's opinion on electric fences for the pin. Ideas?

I'd do it not only to keep dogs out but other predators to.

I do it. You can get job done with a lower output charger. My suggestion is you use a solar powered unit and have two wires going around the pen perimeter. Lower can be about 4" above ground and 4" out from pen with second about 6" above that. Managing weeds dictates some spacing for me as I use a spin trimmer rather than herbicide. If most of pen protected, predators seem to not even check door if is not similarly bounded by hotwire. Hotwire on door is a pain so I no longer do it.
