So I hatched out 44 a and m chicks a couple weeks ago and all were doing well. Only lost 2 to natural causes (chicks just died). I have a lab that has never messed with any birds and just lays next to the brooder and watches as if they're entertaining her! Walked outside for less than 2 minutes and didn't think to close the door to the room with the brooder. Needless to say however trusting they seem, don't trust the dog to babysit! I now have 12!! How she caught and ate 30 within just a couple minutes is kind of impressive but also unfortunate at the same time. Lessons learned I guess!

Omgsh I'm so sorry. My dogs LOVE babysitting lol Thank God they never ate any. But my female lab is like a mother hen. She chases the other dogs away from her "baby's". She cracks me up. I will say "Mia where's your baby's?" she will either go to the incubator or the brooder depending where They are.

Did the dog puke?

Sure didn't. Watched her use the bathroom for a couple days too and nothing abnormal!
