Wow, 2 years is a long time. I train my dogs from the moment they enter my house ( I use handfeeding when they are young, you can probably find info online for handfeed training as I'm sure someone has written a book

). My dogs learn as puppies that what is mine is mine. Rabbits - mine, goats- mine, ducks-mine, chickens-mine. I bring whatever it is into my house and tell my dogs to leave it, it's mine and they ignore whatever it is. Ten minutes of my time and it's one and done. I do, of course, continue to train my dogs in high level obedience. I use Ivan Balabanov's "Obedience without Conflict". I have 3 trained in water rescue, all trained in SAR, and 1 trained in IPO/KNPV. The only one to give me trouble was the Catahoula, she is always "oh look, squirrel" but still compliant to any command given. Pics - catahoula at 3 months ignoring the rabbit and four on a sit/stay.
