Dogs got 3 of my chickens!!

Any way to block the dog from your part of the yard?
Not really, but I am going to make an additional fenced off area around the secure run as well, so hopefully that helps. He doesn't hang out in the backyard too much, and very rarely unsupervised (he's more of a dog that goes on long walks instead of backyard)

Two dogs forced open the gate of the chicken run and slaughtered 3 of my hens! The other two are in shock. Rooster was hiding in the carport. I am so very upset!!!!
in so sorry about your hens!! no chicken deserves this fate :(
this is a late reply- but did you see the dogs ? do you know/could identify who the belong to (if they aren’t strays?) the owners really need to be held accountable, if they are pets it’s beyond irresponsible to let your dogs run loose killing for fun :(

Chickens in the same fence as an untrained dog a recipe for disaster .
took 2 years of training to get our 3 dogs to not bother our flock, (gun dog breed, guard dog breed, and toy breed) so, so much training and a watchful eye at all times!!

now, 4 years after getting our first birds i can confidently say i trust all our dogs with our birds, our guard breed even takes a sort of guardianship role with them to ward off preadators, despite not being trained to.

dogs and chickens can live in peace but hoooo boy do they need training!!
