Dogs savaged chickens

I still miss my two girls that I lost, especially my special little mutt hen Cookie. I really miss her every day. I have a wind chime over their little graves where I buried them so I think about them when the wind blows gently.

As for the two severely injured ones, they are perfectly fine! Still have some missing feathers where the scars are but they are laying healthy eggs, clucking, scratching and doing their chicken things 😁

And the rest are now back to being confident little girls too, they were very quiet for a few months but they are back on form now 😊 my head hen is now Waffle and is my cuddliest chicken. She likes a snuggle and is keeping everyone in check really well so it's worked out 😊 xx
I'm sure you do miss those girls and Cookie sounds like she was a sweetie :hugs

I'm happy to read that the injured ladies have recovered and doing so well, sounds like they are quite happy.

Thank you for the update.

So I lost one bird in the incident and then a second from stress the next day.

The remaining two that were injured have been doing well, no pus in the wounds and both are eating (albeit limited) and drinking. They are being kept quiet in my downstairs bathroom whilst they recover.

The girls that were not injured are outside and seem to be doing well, some even laid eggs yesterday.

Electric fence is up and running around the perimeter of run and hopefully we can all recover from this. First time I slept last night in 3 days. Still gutted for my two little girls, they were both so friendly and bright eyed. I had even trained one to do tricks for treats. I raised them both from chicks.
So sorry for your losses. I would inform my neighbor that I will shoot to kill if I ever see his dogs on my property again, even if they were not close to my chicken coop.
