We have had terrible gnats in our yard this year. They are literally swarming my dog. Nothing else has worked. What Ive tried: bunches of home sprays using essential oils, a bit of Avon Skin So Soft, a natural dog repellent spray, adding essential oils to his shampoo.
So, today I jumped on the DE wagon. I sprinkled it all around my yard and dusted it on my dogs hind quarters ( that's where they swarm). I will see if this works. I'm about ready to try anything at this point.
I also bought a bottle of Bronco repellent spray for horses (it said safe for dogs), but I will only use it as a last resort.
Ive never seen gnats here in Upstate NY. Crazy.

DE isn't supposed to repel as much as maim. I would worry about it being a possible skin irritant.

What do you use for fleas?
I use the Seresto collar on my smaller dogs. But I'm using Revolution for my big one. He just turned 6mths old and the Revolution came with his puppy package so I figured Id use it up. I plan to change him to Bravecto when hes old enough.
So far, weve been outside for 2 hrs and the gnats are much less on him than usual. I just kinda dusted a bit on his hind end.

Update: DE was pretty worthless. It did keep the gnats away from my dog for about 15 minutes or so. I am now using the Bronco spray and it works like a charm.
