Dominique Breeders

Please don't miss the point here. Welp and almost other large hatcheries produce a bird that looks like a Dom and has been crossed for feather sexing. It doesn't really justify it from a purebred standpoint, it is just what happens so they can tell the difference between pullets and roosters at hatch.

The original post requested information about getting some birds that will get him closer to the SOP. If that is the desire I would strongly recommend starting with new stock in the breeding pen from a breeder that has great birds.

NYREDS had either eggs or chicks on the auction site, I cant remember which they were. But he has been breeding for a long time and shows from the strain he is selling from. I would not hesitate to at least contact him about Dom's

I developed a flock of Dominiques for The Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown, NY & I maintain a paralell flock at home.
After an long search for good quality Dominiques I got some stock from a gentleman who had bred a closed flock for over 50 years. I recently crossed in birds from Mike Stichler of Ohio and am very pleased with the outcome.
No offense to the good folks at Welps but if you are serious about Dominiques you might want to reconsider the birds you bought as a starting point.
PM me if you'd like & I'll give you my phone # so we can talk Doms.

I have Bantam Dom's that me and my son show. They come from a local breeder/shower that has had this stock for about 10 years. We have had ours about a year now. My sons Roo has gotten BB over the ones the man we got ours from had his son showing at every show we went to. His roo got Reserved RCCL a few times.

That is an offer that should not be refused. Any time you can have a good conversation with a serious long time breeder about his/her birds you should for sure take them up on it.
