He or she is about 14 weeks old. My other cockerels of other breeds (speckled sussex and rhode island red) have shown themselves quite easily and now have fully developed, bright red combs and wattles. This young chicken is harder for me to tell, plus I don't have any others of this breed to compare with. My other pullets are starting to develop their wattles similar to this one, but I just am not sure. This dominique has some light pink to the comb, but not many bumps at all really. He/she is slightly lighter in coloration compared to my plymouth barred rock of the same age, but doesn't necessarily seem to have double white stripes. He or she hasn't crowed or even really played the pecking order games I see from the males. Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts?

Let's see what I've got here.

Speckled sussex cockerel
Can see the rhode island red cockerel in one of the pics, as well as a few of my other pullets. Last one has the two with barring next to each other, the dominique is on the right.

Gorgeous girl. Yes, the light coloring is also part of what concerns me. Guess I may just have to wait and see.
Yes. Mine was just an early layer. You can see the other Dom pullet in the back of the gaggle of girls, with her small, pale comb and wattles.
Both were same age, same source.
