I have an 18 week old dominique "hen" or so I thought until recently. starlight has long, curved tail feathers, not quite fully grown out... she looks like a rooster, but hasn't crowed!!!! when do roos start crowing? and can hens have long tail feathers?

You have a pullet. The standard calls for the top tail feathers to curve down in the females. That's what you're seeing there!

Pullet / female. Tails very similar to those on birds I acquired from Ideal or Privett hatcheries. When they molt into next set of feathers, the sicle feathers will be less evident.
