Thanks blackdotte, that is what I was hoping to hear. I didn't really plan on mixing my birds but the Domonique looked like a very healthy bird, and I have had NO luck finding a Barred Rock rooster. I found a Rhode Island Red rooster that I will take out of quranteen in another week. If I mate him with the BR's then I should get Black Stars or Sex Links.
My goal is to identify the chicks right away at hatching.
This is why I absolutely LOVE this site. There are SOOOOOO many gosh darn smart people on here. I clearly see the difference in the 2 breeds. WOW !!! Now I have information and evidence of what I am talking about when I talk to the older poultry people around here about the Dominiques and Barred Rocks. Thanks to everyone who answered my question and provided information. I have definitely learned something new. I guess this is why I spend hours a day on this site reading and learning new things. I love learning !!!

Most OLDER poultry folk don't even know there are written standards with pictures.
Buy the black and white APA Standards Book and meet the world of actually doing this right. All the differences are there, the pictures really help you select for type and it helps tons in sorting out MUTTS from what you are sold.
If you KNOW the breed standards in the breeds you want it's a LOT easier to prevent taking in mutts when you want purebreds.
How old is older? The first Standard was printed in 1875!
Well, I did the cross with a Dom roo and BR hens. I ended up with ALL barred chicks, ALL with rose combs and it was impossible to tell the pullets from the cockerels till they were older. We stewed the Dom roo and now use a RIR with BR hens to get Black Sex Links, much easier to tell the difference at hatching.
