We bought our chicks from a hatchery and new to all chicken breeds. We ordered dominiques but after doin some research i think they might have sent us a barred rock instead. These girls are about 9 weeks old. Any thoughts?

These are of Oreo, who has a single raised comb

These 2 are of Minnie, she has an extremely flat comb with no bumps

I don't know how many you ordered but the last two pictures look like Dominiques. They should have rose combs. The one at the top could be a Dominique as well because the head does not have normal points on a barred rock. If you did end up with a bard rock they are really nice and my favorite breed! I do think they are probably Dominiques.

Dominiques occasionally can come with single combs. The single come is a recessive gene so kinda like a child being born with blue eyes to parents with brown eyes. Here is one I got once in a batch of Dominiques.

Oh, that's interesting! I didn't know that. Please pardon the hijack, but this is a fairly old picture of one of our Dominiques—from several weeks ago—but could this then be a hen with a recessive gene?

Ah, here are two from last week. About 7.5 weeks old.

I would say yes if you know she came from Dominiques.
It means you have a roo and a hen with genes Rr.
I have a roo and a hen who both have the rose comb but when bred together I occasionally get single combs from them.
Here is the punnet square for rose comb with a recessive gene for single comb hiding. You will see when two parents with the recessive gene hiding are bred, the single comb will come out.
The RR and Rr are for rose comb and rr is single comb.

Fascinating. Thank you! It's a hatchery bird. To be honest, I'm mostly focusing on just enjoying the birds (happily, we live in the country where roos are fine), so we're still not sure if it's Little Roo or Rhonda. ;) Thanks!

Here are some of my Dominiques. I have two Sweetie and Speckles. Wonderful sweet breed. I’d say yours look like Dominiques. They used to have single and rose comb when they were first introduced so occasionally you’ll get a single.

The one you were holding in the picture is a female. Also neat point about Dominiques is the females are 1-2 shades darker than males. Darker feet, feathers and beaks.
Here are some males
