Is that true ?? And what is the secret?? He told me they would be different colors so are the roos lighter thatn hens or what ?? Thanks in advance for your help. Also pictures of any babies would be very helpful !!!

It's just that I was trying to be sure you really had that breed and not another. Country terms are not a problem, just wanted to clarify. It's pretty easy to sex Doms, but I was thinking maybe a little harder with Cuckoo Marans, but I don't have any of those, so not sure. The same general rules do apply and it's about 90% accurate. Dominiques are the first American breed of chicken, if memory serves, and Barred Rocks came from them. Barred Rocks are my favorite. Hope you enjoy your Doms, Livia! Is your name Olivia or just Livia?

It is just "Livia" My mom named me that after "Alivia" from the Walton's . That is why I got them because they are one of the oldest breeds of heritage chickens and they are beautiful. My roo has the most beautiful comb . Thanks for all fo your help. I do want ot keep 1 roo and a few more hens to have a second breeder pen .

We'd love to see pics of them soon! I have a young friend named Olivia and I named one of my sweet poufy headed hens after her. I mostly call her "Livvie", though.
