Domonique eating a mouse

Mine caught a vole the other day in the run. I could hear it sqweeking. I felt bad for it so I opened the run door so they would take it out and if they dropped it it would have a small chance to get away. Someone else grabbed it and took it back in the run. I tried.

I came home from work one day to find one of the cats had caught a mouse and was playing with it on our lawn, I let the chickens out of the run for a bit of grazing and the next minute there's a chicken running off with the mouse, nicked from the cat and the rest of the flock in chase mode.

I haven't seen mine catch anything bigger than a large worm yet. I'm sure they're catching plenty when I'm not looking, though. Tiny, terrifying little dinosaurs. 😂

I'm actually surprised that none of them have tried to get the red squirrels since I've seen some of the flock eyeing them. They're everywhere here and they aren't that much bigger than a really big mouse. Maybe they have too many teeth or something lol.

I'm sure mine have enjoyed the occasional mouse. Once I saw one of my hens running away from her own chicks (5 to 6 weeks old) and the rest of the flock with a snake in her beak. I'm on 3 acres and she covered a lot of ground until she could safely gobble it up whole. The thing had to be a good 3 feet long. The hilarious part was watching whole flock running after her, 30 chickens running the circuit. Another one had a baby Jay, they ripped that thing apart playing tug of war Chickens will eat anything that's smaller than they are.
