Nylon screening keeps threat of nats, mosquito chick pox,and just torture of bugs while trying to sleep.Springtime can be the worst.
Nylon is safest. Metal screening can drop small metal pieces all over, get into food.
Nylon cuts easily, cheap.can be easily duk taped or stapled, depending on size windows, doors.
I keep my coop door closed day ,to keep all pests out.A small hen door, can put hanging pieces plastic, rug, keep most insects out.
Nats in spring have killed chickens. They’ve had warning on news. Can hinder breathing.
Sometimes chickens need a safe place to get away middle of day.when bugs can be heaviest. Mosquitoes are also carriers of pox, and can bite poor chicks all night.
A coop should be a sanctuary to enjoy, for our feathered friends.
