Hey all. I am in the rebuilding flock stage. I have lost several of my hens recently and now only have 4 hens, TWO Roos, 6 pullets and 40 chicks. My prize Roo is Bandit...He's the one on my profile pic and is "The King". He's a Plymouth Barred Rock. The other is a beautiful White Roo, RIR/BR mix. I know, White!! He's a beaut! Anyway.....Between the two of them, they have defeathered (is that a word?) the backs of both my Ameracaunas and RIRs. No infection. Just bare backed. And I am now noticing white feathers and barred feathers around the yard with lots of screeching and growling, which tells me they are starting to fight. I haven't seen them fight, but I believe I am seeing the remnants thereof.
I have two questions (one which I probably already know the the answer to, and just don't want to admit it, nor do it!)
1) Will the feathers grow back?????
2) Do I need to get rid of the White Roo? (Not getting rid of Bandit!)
Thanks for the input!
