We have 5 hens (well three are pol pullets, but the same size) in the big coop. It has a 4ftx8ft run in the tractor and the run that is attached to the side is 12ftx8ft. We move the tractor every 2-3 days and we move the run every 7 days. They get some treats, (they love pecans) mom gives them noodles and bread sometimes, my kids give them some snacks too, but not alot.
The thing is, I have a feeder that I only have to change once a week. They do not eat much of the feed. Is that a problem? The two that are laying lay well (the dark cornish lays 7/week and the EE lays 5-7/week, mostly around 6) and they are good strong eggs. Everyone's feathers look good. So if it isn't broke do I fix it, or is there something I should do. Should we slow up on the snacks, or is it just because they are scratching all day long?
