Don't I need a lid for this feeder

I bought this 30 pound Harris Farms hanging feeder from TSC yesterday.It did not come with a lid. Checked the shelves but none seen and by the time I got to the checkout I had so many items that I forgot to ask.
But I think it needs a lid. What would keep the chickens from roosting on the edge and pooping in it.....

If you hang it as intended they won't roost on it. No it does not come with a lid, you can use a pie tin if you want.
