Went to the feedstore downtown and they had everything! Turkeys pheasants chickens pigeons and ducks. I was looking at the pigeons because I really want some, just a couple. In a cage beside the pigeons was a turkey poult. It was laying down, legs either broken or SEVER spraddle leg. It had a broken wing and was trying to move with the other wing. It couldn't even get water
I was fixing to go ask the people that work there if they were going to cull him when my grandma said something about a dead chicken in the brooder pen. Sure enough in the brooder pen was a turkey poult, a little younger than the one in the other pen that was dying, still breathing and chicks where pecking him, bleeding bad. I was in shock and almost crying. Went to the people that work there and a snobby teen, probably my age said "What do you want me to do about" Well you should remove the poor guy. "They are stupid birds that don't matter"
Asked if anyone else was working and she said no. UGH!!!!
I asked how much they were, just to get them out and she said $15! HOLY COW. Mom hollered over Oh Heck no. (I knew it would have risked my birds anyway, but we could have at least ended their suffering) The water was icky brown and barely and food. We left and I started balling in the car. I didn't take pictures with my phone, probably should have. That store used to be AWESOME but the owner died last year. I don't know who to call, or if they can even be charged for anything, but I think something should be done. They had some silkies and some lakenvelders *sp? which I wanted but they won't be getting my money.
Mom kept saying if you would have gotten them they'd just get more so it wouldn't make a difference. I sorta flipped out on her that it would have mattered to those 2 (later apologized) I just can't believe it!
