Bumblefoot is a bacteria infection that will swell up the bottom of the foot on your chickens and will create a little scab check all your chickens and make sure they don't have scabs on the bottom of their feet if they do you need to follow these steps one you need to pick off the scab with gloves pull the scab out and squeeze is all the yellow pus out two put antibiotic cream on the foot wound three put a piece of gauze over the wound and rap with a vet tape you can get some from Tractor Supply that's for horses and it works the same for the best results you want to cut it in half we had to put my chicken down when I mean put her down we had to shoot her cuz it got so bad she couldn't move her feet and if you have a bad enough where there's blisters on the feet you better try everything in your power rap their feet everyday

I am sorry you had to learn this the hard way, but I truly do appreciate this post. If any of my girls end up with bumblefoot, I will follow your instructions. Thank you:clap

I'm sorry your girl encountered this problem. This is an example as to why it's important to do regularly scheduled health checks on all your birds. Grab them off the roost at night when they are more cooperative. Inspect eyes, ears, nares, look in the mouth, inspect shanks and feet and look at the bottom for bumbles or any other injuries. Trim nails if necessary, be careful doing this so as not to quick them, have baking soda or styptic powder at the ready just in case. Check for lites / mites, inspect their vent, ensure it's clean, overall general health. They don't necessarily enjoy the experience, but if done gently and efficiently, they get used to it.
