Hi Barg, mine were up late last night to when I turned the light on but I think it was all really due to being frightened of the storm and maybe yours were frightened by the "new place" at night? Anyway, thank goodness we all survived. ha I only use a 60wt. bulb but it is probably more for my security than it is for them since they have their feathers. I suppose we could always go to a colored low watage bulb?? Everything is scarier in the dark.
Today I gave the big waterer to the ducklings who are in a separate cage in the coop with the chicks. I brought the chicks in a small rubber pail of water. Some of them never noticed the "big girl waterer" but were only aware that those darned ducklings got their waterer!! They ran around the cage and made a fuss until I had to make a big deal out of the new waterer. It is like a bunch of kids and one getting more than the other! I am sure our forefathers did not cater to their chickens as we all here on BYC do.
But then they did not have time to sit and enjoy them.
